RESIDENT COUNCIL CANDIDATES AND THEIR BIOS
We have eight (8) candidates for seven (7) positions on the Resident Council. The candidates are Rob Warne, Sally Michel, Debbie Massey, Sue LaRue, Walt Knight, Bob Harris, Mar T Ahrens, and Christer Ahl. Their photos and bios are on a poster by the mail room and are also accessible on the home page of the resident website, www.ghbcresidents.org.

Each candidate has been asked to wear a “Vote for Me” button so they are identifiable to answer any questions you might have.

RESIDENT COUNCIL UPDATE ON VOTING

  1. Presentations by the candidates will be on Monday, November 13, 10:00 a.m., in the Auditorium. They each have no more than three minutes to share why they are running for a council seat and how they can contribute to the council and to the community.
  2. Ballots will be placed in your mailboxes the night before, Sunday, November 12.
  3. The Ballot box will be in the Rotunda from Monday, November 13 until NOON on Friday, November 17.

ELECTION COMMITTEE

The Election Committee is responsible for conducting the nomination and election process for the Resident Council in accordance with Article II of the Resident Council Charter, and Section B of the Bylaws providing for election procedures.                          

The duties of the Election Committee are to:

  1. Maintain a record for each Resident Council position as to the year in which elections are to be scheduled, the names of incumbents and the number and dates of terms served, to permit compliance with the term limit provisions of Article II of the Council Charter.
  2. Establish and implement an action timetable for each annual nomination and election cycle, including a schedule of announcements for WEST WINDS and other publicity activities by the Committee.
  3. Conduct the nominating process and encourage interested residents to actively recruit candidates to assure contested elections and broad representation.
  4. Conduct all regular and special elections for Resident Council Representatives, monitor the voting, count the ballots, determine the winners, and personally inform all nominees of the results of the election and whether or not each has been elected  Numerical results of the balloting shall not be released and the ballots shall be destroyed three working days after the election.
  5. Promptly announce and widely publicize within the community the names of the newly elected Resident Council members.
